Our History
Our organization sprang from a collaboration between a group of concerned Midcoast residents and Camden Rotary Club’s Economic and Workforce Development Committee members. After attending a series of Rotary Club presentations about local housing issues, State Representative Vicki Doudera convened a housing workshop in March 2021. Individuals who attended the workshop began discussing the housing crisis and, joined by members of the Rotary Club, sought ways to approach it. The Club’s January 2022 housing needs assessment brought this serious issue into stark focus. The assessment and detailed interviews with leaders of other New England housing trusts continue to inform our efforts.
The community leaders on our working board have experience in real estate development, finance, and sales; business; banking; law; architecture; community development; and nonprofit governance.
In November 2022, the Rockland City Council designated MCRHT as an essential partner in addressing the city’s affordable housing crisis.
